Our Commitment to Safety
The Port upholds rigorous health and safety standards across all port operations. We comply fully with applicable occupational health and safety legislation and align our practices with recognized industry standards. Every member of our team is properly equipped and thoroughly trained to perform their duties safely and confidently.
Port Security
We operate in full compliance with the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Code, ensuring our facility meets international standards for maritime security. Our port-wide security infrastructure includes a secured perimeter fence and automated monitoring systems to safeguard personnel, vessels, and cargo at all times.
Marine Facility Security Plan
We maintain a comprehensive Marine Facility Security Plan, which is reviewed annually to reflect evolving regulations and best practices. All amendments are submitted to and approved by Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security, ensuring ongoing compliance with the Marine Transportation Security Regulations.
On-Site Security Services
Security services are provided by a qualified local contractor. Security personnel are deployed whenever vessels are alongside or when terminal yard activities require their presence. All security staff receive continuous training to uphold the highest standards of readiness and professionalism.
Restricted Area
All personnel accessing the marine facility are required to pass through the designated security control point (security gate). Passengers, crew members, suppliers, visitors, agents, and any other individuals or vehicles seeking access to the marine facility in relation to cruise vessel operations must enter through this control point
Contractors
Prior to work commencing, contractors must complete the Port’s Contractor HSE Minimum Requirements Checklist. Contractors will be required to meet or exceed legislative requirements by using industry best practices and following Corner Brook Port Corporation policies and procedures. All contractors will respect, cooperate and support the Port’s health and safety initiatives and activities
Emergency Management
The Port regularly collaborates with municipal, provincial, and federal partners and participates in emergency preparedness exercises to maintain readiness and strengthen coordination
